Combining the rich musical heritage of the
Lutheran Church with the vibrant and versatile musical traditions of
Mexico, the ¡Adelante! Music Ministry has become a resource for
worship and evangelism in Hispanic communities throughout the United
States. It is also bringing purpose, hope, and opportunity to
children, youth, and adults in the El Paso border region whose lives
are changed through participation in the ministry.
The primary goals of the music ministry are
to
Cultivate musical ability and
Christian leadership,
Reach
out to others in love and with God's saving gospel, and
Unite
communities, families, generations, and races in celebration and
worship.
The ¡Adelante! Music Ministry accomplishes this
through:

such as piano, guitar, violin, trumpet, voice, drums, vihuela, and
guitarron

Cross-Cultural Music Teams
such as a Mariachi group and a praise band

Community Care Events
such as nursing home and senior center performances as well as Hospice
patient serenades

both locally and out of town

Music Classes
We have provided music classes as
part of the music ministry since 2001, enabling students to receive instruction from
talented teachers. We are currently
accepting registrants for guitar, piano, trumpet, violin, vihuela, guitarron, and voice.
Students over seven years of age are encouraged to enroll.
Church membership is not required.
Mariachi San Pablo
Mariachi San Pablo is made up of
committed children, youth, and adults who strive to perfect Christian
and popular music in both Spanish and English so they can serve,
unite, and reach others through music. This group is very active, rehearsing
every week and performing throughout El Paso and Juarez numerous times
each month. Mariachi San Pablo is available to travel out of
town to assist churches in outreach and evangelism. Mariachi San
Pablo has performed at churches, community events, conferences, and
conventions in sixteen states (71 cities) since the year 2000.

Community Care Events
Each month, music teams go into the community to share music and celebrate
God's love.
Types of events include visits to retirement
homes, serenades for hospice patients, and performances at senior centers. People in the community are
always thrilled to hear and sing along with favorite hymns of praise
and popular songs of the mariachi tradition. If you know of a

Some residents began "dancing" with the help of
family and nurses.
Evangelism Performances
The most effective source of joy, hope, and
peace that we can share with those around us is the message of
salvation through Jesus Christ. Sharing the Gospel message
through song lyrics and the spoken word of musicians is part of the
goal of every performance. When the Mariachi groups are
invited to perform for wedding receptions, quinceañeras, or public
events, the performance balances Christian and popular repertoire
planting seeds of grace in settings normally dominated by secular-only
music.
Christian Education
While church membership is not a requirement of
participation in the music ministry, Bible-based devotion and prayer
is incorporated into music team rehearsals.
Recordings and Songbooks
 A recent activity of the music ministry has been
the development of recordings and songbooks that make the unique
songs and arrangements of Mariachi San Pablo available to all. We thank

has enabled Mariachi San Pablo to create these resources.
