"St. Stephen" Lutheran Church
Ministry in this remote farming village began in
1989 when YLM sent Servant Event groups to repair and paint a clinic
and community center. Groups returned each year to complete work
projects for the community. Because of the relationships these
groups built with the villagers, they invited YLM to build a church
there. Servant events from YLM and the LCMS Texas District CAN-DO
Ministry helped construct a church building. Currently,
missionaries are teaching classes in the public school in San Lorenzo,
building relationship with the community and Pastor Martin Tovar and
his wife Blanca are visiting the town every other weekend for
children's ministry.
