"St. Luke" Lutheran Church
Anapra is one of the poorest Mexican communities
in the Juarez area. Many years ago, Anapra grew out of the city’s old
garbage dump. Cinder block homes, cardboard shacks, and pallet houses are the most common
forms of shelter for the people that live here. Running water is scarce. Despite great economic need, YLM has seen
incredible dedication from the people of this community to serve their
church. San Lucas continues to grow and thrive.
The mission site consists of a church as well as
various other buildings that serve as Sunday School classrooms, a
daycare, a medical clinic, and a dormitory for service groups in the
area. The members of this congregation have pulled together to take
ownership in their church and have formed a
church council and adopted a constitution. They are on the road to
becoming a self-sufficient congregation. This is an answer to years of
prayer!
