Who is Jesus

The Servant Event program at YLM provides opportunities for service to youth and adults from around the country. Servants come to YLM as support to the ministries that occur here and work on projects related to mission maintenance, human care, education, and evangelism.

What do Servant Events do?

Mission Construction/Maintenance - Build, paint, clean, tile, roof...

Between all of the mission sites that YLM serves and the 4.2 acre campus of YLM in El Paso, there are ALWAYS minor repairs, clean-ups and painting to do. Servant Events provide the extra hands needed to complete these tasks and keep our buildings in good order, which allows the ministry to continue running smoothly.

Check out this video from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Caro, Michigan. Their group of 11 servants came to YLM last May to add the roof to the Anapra mission sanctuary. This video speaks louder than words.

Human Care - House construction, medical clinics, food distribution...

The needs of the people in El Paso and Mexico are great. Servant Events provide extra helping hands in meeting the basic needs of these people while showing them God’s love. Servant Events provide medical clinics and house construction/repair in some of the poorest parts of El Paso and northern Mexico.

Education/Evangelism - VBS, music concerts, walk the neighborhoods...

Each year some Servant Events help organize and lead programs designed to educate and strengthen men, women, and children at the various ministry sites.  Groups lead Vacation Bible Schools, perform concerts, or walk neighborhoods inviting people to hear the good news.

Where do they serve?

Most Servant Events divide their time working on projects at San Pablo Lutheran Church in El Paso and  one or more of the mission sites in Mexico.  Opportunities are also available for your group to stay and work at a Mexico border mission site for the entire week or work at sites deeper in Mexico.

What does it cost?

Costs for servant event teams are:
  • Program Fee: $250 per participant provides for program expenses, lodging, and local transportation ($50 of this fee is required as a deposit at the time of registration.)
  • Construction Supplies: $200 per participant (if the group plans to do construction)
  • Food:  Groups may choose to have an El Paso cook prepare their meals for them.  Often groups prefer this option to purchasing their own groceries and including meal preparation and cleanup into their already rigorous work days.  This option provides 18 meals at a cost of $85 per participant.
Other costs groups encounter are their transportation from home to El Paso, TX, and food/groceries if they are choosing to prepare their own meals while here.
